Food Growing Volunteer

EcoLocal have developed a large community allotment where people can learn gardening skills hands-on.

Drop-in volunteering sessions available Monday afternoons and Friday mornings at the Westmead Road Allotment site (entrance off Colston Avenue). For keener, able, gardeners, there may be opportunity to volunteer with our resident gardener on other days.

You’ll need to be prepared to help at the food growing sessions, weeding, watering, sowing and growing, you even get to take a share of the harvest home to eat – for free!

Wear appropriate clothes and footwear you don’t mind getting muddy, and be prepared to get wet and/or dirty from time to time. Bring warm clothes too if it’s a cold day.

Befriender/Peer supporter at Community Allotment

Carshalton Community Allotment, situated in Westmead Allotment Site in Carshalton, is a thriving project engaging people in food growing, healthy eating and community activity.

Open 2 days a week, the community allotment provides a range of activities including food growing, organic gardening, wildlife and biodiversity gardening, craft activities, herb/fruit growing and social events.

We have an indoor space (if it’s raining) and for making tea and coffee, a poly tunnel and greenhouses.

We are looking for volunteers to help support participants at the community allotment, working alongside our staff.
